How Does it Work
Our 808 Diode Laser uses near-infrared laser light that is absorbed by the melanin in hair follicles. This absorption causes a heat that destroys the hair follicles to remove what’s there and also prevent future growth.
What to Expect
This hair removal process, despite the heating of hair follicles, is virtually pain-free. Patients do tend to feel a warm sting, similar to small rubber band snap, but the device uses a cooling system to counter any extensive heat. We minimize discomfort using a topical anesthesia and cool gel prior to your treatment. You should come to your appointment having not waxed, as this laser targets the root, although shaving is okay given that this leaves the hair intact.

Not all follicles are active at the same time and several treatments, every few weeks, may be necessary to obtain the desired result based on a person-by-person basis. Most patients experience a marked reduction in hair growth in 4 to 6 treatments. Additionally, other factors such as hair density, age and hormones can affect the results of your treatments. It would be fair to say that you will require at least 4 treatments, one month apart to obtain best results.

Following treatment, you may notice some redness that will subside within a day or two. We recommend that you avoid intense UV exposure and use sunscreen, as this laser temporarily removes the body’s natural sunlight protection.
